SRINAGAR/ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani senate on Monday unanimously handed a decision conferring the nation’s highest civilian award, Nishan-e-Pakistan, on Kashmiri separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani, moreover proposing an engineering college in his title.
The decision was moved by Jamaat-i-Islami senator Mustaq Ahmad and handed unanimously with a voice vote. The senate additionally determined to carry its session within the “legislative meeting” of Muzaffarabad in POK on August 5, which marks the primary anniversary of the defanging of Article 370 in J&Okay.
The decision lauded Geelani’s “the selfless and relentless battle and sacrifices” of Geelani for the “proper to self-determination” of the individuals of J&Okay, and proposed inclusion of the ‘life and battle’ of Geelani within the nation’s educational curriculum.
