MUMBAI: The coronavirus pandemic, it appears, shouldn’t be stopping cricket boards around the globe to announce their leagues. On a day when the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) organisers introduced the dates of the following version of their event, in far-off Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) unveiled their formidable T20 challenge — the inaugural version of the Lanka Premier League.
In a transparent conflict of dates with CPL, which is meant to start from August 18 and finish on September 10, the primary version of the Lanka Premier League shall be held from August 28 to September 20, and can contain 23 matches which shall be performed throughout 4 venues. It clearly implies that the gamers taking part in these leagues could have to select between both of the leagues.
The approval for the event got here at an SLC Government Committee on Monday.
5 groups, named after the cities of Colombo, Kandy, Galle, Dambulla and Jaffna will take part within the event, with 70 worldwide gamers and 10 high-profile coaches having confirmed their availability.
The matches shall be performed on the Premadasa Worldwide Cricket Stadium, Rangiri Dambulla Worldwide Cricket Stadium, Pallekele Worldwide Cricket Stadium and Suriyawewa Mahinda Rajapaksa Worldwide Cricket Stadium.
