WELLINGTON: Three males have been rescued from a tiny Pacific island after writing an enormous SOS signal within the sand that was noticed from above, authorities say.
The lads had been lacking within the Micronesia archipelago for almost three days when their misery sign was noticed Sunday on uninhabited Pikelot Island by searchers on Australian and US plane, the Australian protection division stated Monday.

Searchers in Guam requested for Australian assist. The army ship, Canberra, which was returning to Australia from workouts in Hawaii, diverted to the world and joined forces with US searchers from Guam.
The lads have been discovered about 190 kilometers (118 miles) from the place they’d set out.
“I’m pleased with the response and professionalism of all on board as we fulfill our obligation to contribute to the protection of life at sea wherever we’re on the earth,” stated the Canberra’s commanding officer, Capt. Terry Morrison, in an announcement.
